Farewell Yasmin Ahmad, the pride of Malaysians

Farewell, Yasmin.

I thank for your friendship all these years. If you recall, it was you who inspired me to pick up my pen and write the story about my life. It was you who said that we would produce this movie together with you as the Director and me as the Actor and we would donate the proceeds from this movie to charity.

It took me some time to accept your proposal but eventually I took the challenge. I never knew that I could write scripts but for some reason, I could do it and I went on doing it. Later on, I went into acting too. You were right again, I could do it! You believed in me and I guess you had the eye to spot my ability and talent and I want to thank you for that, for changing my life just like how you have to many of us.

So in short, me being in the film industry is because of you. Your inspirations, your friendship and your belief in me.

This sudden death of yours has opened my eyes. I don’t want to leave this world someday just like any another person. I hope to be a legacy just like you; living my life to the fullest with what I believe in and what I do. I hope that my work will impact peoples’ life just like yours did, that it will help people in our own subtle ways through the movies we produce…

My biggest regret is that I did not spend enough time with you and now that you are gone, it is too late. The lesson learned here is that we must always spend our time with the people we care about before there is no time left. We give excuses all the time but now that is too late, we’ll just have to live with the regrets.

I’ll always cherish the time we had and I will keep this memory in my heart, always.

Yasmin, we’ll miss you always. Your departure is a big loss to Malaysia and there will never be a person to ever replace you.

Love you always,
